PresbyBuild: Building Houses, Building Hope

Come to our next PresbyBuild Work Day! You can help renovate a house for a family in need in the City of Newburgh, just across the Hudson River.

Construction skills and tools aren't required. All you need is a good heart, willing hands, and plenty of positive energy! Youth ages 16+ are encouraged to join us for this rewarding community service opportunity.

To volunteer, contact Lynn at [email protected] or our church office at [email protected].

About PresbyBuild

PresbyBuild is a partnership of churches in the Hudson River Presbytery who, individually and together, support the work of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh.

Habitat Newburgh will celebrate 25 years of existence in 2024, during which time there have been 105 homes completed, dedicated, and now lived in by families who were previously in substandard housing. These families have applied and been accepted into the program, completed classes in homeownership and hours of 'sweat equity',
and qualified for a mortgage.

11 of those 105 homes have been Presbybuild sponsored homes, where we raised the funds to cover the Habitat portion of the home's cost.

Members and friends of this church have helped by placing coins in our church donation jug, working on home sites, participating in the Annual Walk for Housing, attending the Annual Breakfast fundraiser and donating money, items for the ReStore to sell, and vehicles.

Our Presbuild churches have donated over $650,000 since 1999 and more than 15,000 volunteer hours each year.

Let's all work together to do more for Habitat Newburgh in 2024, as they continue their mission, which states: "Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh brings people together to build houses, community and hope."

This page is dedicated in loving memory to Norman Brown, a shining light in our congregation for many years and a dear friend. Norm led many groups on our PresbyBuild Workdays in Newburgh, as well as our Midnight Run missions to the homeless in New York City, and our Bridges to Community mission trip to Nicaragua. Norm will be forever loved and forever missed by this congregation, and we are eternally grateful for his leadership in expanding our good works in the community and the world.
